Are you looking for natural and soft transitions in your hair color, far from artificiality, as if lightened by the sun? As Baby Face Hair Salon, we add depth, movement, and shine to your hair with Balayage, the most popular and timeless trend in the hair design world. Our expert colorists determine the tones best suited to your facial features, skin color, and lifestyle, offering you a special, personalized coloring experience.
Derived from the French word meaning “to sweep,” balayage is a special coloring method where hair dye is applied to hair strands using a freehand technique, just like a painter’s touch on a canvas. Unlike traditional foil highlight processes, in balayage, the dye is applied not from the roots but with a soft transition towards the lengths and ends of the hair. Thanks to this technique, sharp lines do not occur at the hair roots, and your hair continues to protect its natural look as it grows. The result is modern, sophisticated, and shiny hair.
Balayage is not just about dyeing hair blonde; it is the art of adding dimension to hair. At Baby Face Hair Salon, we take this process a step further:
Personalized Design: Everyone’s face shape and hair structure are different. We calculate the strands framing the face, which we call “Facelight,” and the points where light falls on the hair, creating the toning that suits you best.
Hair Health is Our Priority: We use special “Bond Builder” technologies that protect hair bonds during lightening processes. Thus, your hair is lightened without being damaged or losing its elasticity.
Low Maintenance Requirement: Balayage is a technique that eliminates the obligation of root touch-ups. Since your roots remain their own color or a very soft transition (“root melt”) is made, you do not need to increase the frequency of your hairdresser visits.
At Baby Face, we do not apply a uniform type but different balayage techniques tailored to needs:
Classic Balayage: Natural and soft transition brightness throughout the hair.
Micro Balayage (Babylights): A technique applied in very thin strands, creating a slight shimmer throughout the hair.
Ombre Balayage: More distinct blondes concentrating towards the ends.
Brushlight: More natural reflections made with wide brush strokes.
Our application process begins with a detailed consultation. Following your hair analysis, the lightening process is meticulously performed. When the desired lightness is reached, a “Toner” (Gloss) process is applied to neutralize unwanted warm reflections (orange tones) in the hair and give that perfect color. Finally, the process is completed with a care mask and styling.
Care at home is important to extend the life of your shiny hair and protect its brightness. Processed hair needs moisture, so you should not neglect weekly moisture masks. We recommend using “Purple Shampoo” (Silver Shampoo) once a week to prevent blonde tones from turning reddish or matte over time. Also, always apply heat protectant serums before using a curling iron or straightener to take your hair ends under protection.
Highlights are generally a process done in more frequent and regular packets using foil from the roots to the ends, having more distinct lines. Balayage, on the other hand, is a technique with very soft, natural transitions, applied with a freehand technique, starting not from the roots but lower down, and concentrating towards the ends. While root touch-up is required in highlights, there is no root touch-up obligation in balayage.
Every lightening process can tire the hair to some extent, but thanks to the new generation lighteners and protective “plex” technologies we use at Baby Face Hair Salon, the risk of damage is minimized. Balayage done with the right technique and without pushing the limits of the hair does not burn the hair. The health of your hair is more important to us than the color.
Yes, balayage can also be done on hair with dark bases such as black or brown. In dark hair, warmer tones like caramel, hazelnut shell, copper, or honey foam are generally preferred to ensure a soft and natural transition. A gradual process may be required for very light tones like platinum blonde.
Depending on the length, thickness, and the lightness of the targeted tone, the balayage process takes between 3 to 5 hours on average. This time includes foiling/painting, processing, washing, toning, care, and blow-drying.
The biggest advantage of balayage is that it is long-lasting. Since a transition compatible with your own hair color is made from the roots, a disturbing appearance does not occur as the hair grows. You can use it comfortably for an average of 4 to 6 months. You can refresh the color by just having a “toning” process done in between.
After the first 3 months of pregnancy (first trimester), procedures like balayage where chemicals do not touch the scalp are generally considered safer. However, since hormones change during pregnancy, smell sensitivity may occur, or color retention may change. We definitely recommend consulting your doctor before the procedure.
Pricing varies according to the density and length of your hair, the amount of lightener to be used, and extra care treatments to be performed. We welcome you to our salon for a free hair analysis to give the healthiest price information and determine the most suitable tone for you.
Absolutely! Balayage is not just for long hair. Balayage applied to “Bob” cuts or shoulder-length (lob) hair reveals the model of the cut and adds incredible modernity to the hair.
Especially in Turkish hair structure, there is a tendency for warm (red/orange) reflections after lightening. However, we eliminate these reflections with the professional “neutralizing toner” process we apply at the end of the procedure at Baby Face. You can also keep the color under control with the right products you use at home.
