The beauty of your hair color lies in its continuity. Whether platinum blonde, chocolate brown, or an ambitious red; the most critical detail for your hair to look flawless is the roots. Natural hair color or greys appearing as the hair grows can overshadow even the most professional coloring job. As Baby Face Hair Salon, we see the “root touch-up” process not just as a retouch, but as an art that restores the color harmony of your hair. With our professional applications that match the color at the ends exactly, leave no transition marks, and cover greys 100%, we ensure you feel fresh and well-groomed as if you just left the hairdresser.
Root touch-up is the process of bringing the natural hair color or greys appearing at the hair roots with hair growth to the same color tone as the rest of the hair (lengths and ends). This process is applied only to the growing 1-2 cm area, without dyeing the entire hair. Thus, the ends of the hair are not exposed to chemical treatment unnecessarily and do not get damaged. Regular root touch-ups maintain the integrity of your hair color, prevent an unkempt appearance, and ensure your facial expression remains vibrant at all times. Especially for those with white hair, root touch-up is the key to a youthful and dynamic look.
At Baby Face Hair Salon, the root touch-up process is much more than a simple dye application. The process begins with our experts’ hair analysis. Your hair’s current color, lightening at the ends due to the sun or washing, and your natural hair color are examined.
Color Determination: Millimetric color mixtures are prepared so that the color at the ends “fuses” with the color at the roots and no band (line) occurs in between.
Protection: Special serums protecting your scalp are applied before the procedure to prevent itching and burning sensations.
Application: The dye is applied only to the root parts with precise brush strokes. If there are highlights or balayage in the hair, the transition is softened with special techniques we call “root melt” or “base breaking.”
Processing and Washing: After the ideal processing time, the hair is purified with color-sealing shampoo and color-protecting masks.
Many people try to do root touch-ups at home, but the result is usually a disappointment. Problems frequently encountered in home dyeing such as “hot roots” (roots being more orange or brighter than ends), “banding” (overlapping dye creating a dark strip), or incomplete coverage of whites are not experienced at Baby Face. Our professional dyes contain more pigment than market dyes, care for the hair, and offer a guarantee to hit the exact desired tone. Additionally, the professional washing process accompanied by a scalp massage ensures that the dye is completely purified from the skin.
The renewal period of root touch-up varies according to your hair growth speed and white density. An average hair grows 1-1.5 cm per month. Ideally, a root touch-up procedure is recommended every 3 to 5 weeks. Extending this period too much can cause the area to be dyed to expand and make color equalization difficult (causing a tone difference in between).
No, when done with professional products and the right technique, root touch-up does not damage the hair. The process is applied only to the newly growing natural and healthy hair; the ends that have been processed before are not touched. The ammonia-free or low-ammonia, oil-based dyes we use at Baby Face protect the scalp and hair strand.
Doctors generally recommend avoiding chemical procedures during the first 3 months of pregnancy (first trimester). From the 4th month onwards, techniques that do not touch the scalp or herbal-based, ammonia-free dyes can be preferred. However, your doctor will make the most accurate decision on this matter; we definitely recommend consulting your doctor before the procedure.
Yes, it can be done and is even necessary. However, in highlighted hair, instead of solid color, “base breaking” or “root melt” (root shadow) processes are generally preferred. In this way, a soft transition is achieved between your dark natural color and blonde ends, and no sharp line occurs.
The root touch-up process is completed in 1 to 1.5 hours on average, including application and processing time. You can refresh your hair by taking a short break even on a busy day.
At Baby Face Hair Salon, protective cream is applied to the forehead and around the ears before the procedure. Dyes that smudge during the process are instantly wiped off with special cleansers. When you leave our salon, no dye stains remain on your skin.
Absolutely. We use professional series with intense coverage and special pre-pigmentation techniques for hair structures called “glassy” or stubborn grey. We perform procedures with a white coverage guarantee.
